The Snowbound Team recently met up with White Storm, ski rental experts with shops based in Courchevel, Val D’Isere and Tignes. We were fascinated to find out so much about how they run their business, and go that little bit further for their customers. As a family oriented ski transfers company we were delighted to discover White Storm share our ethos of prioritising customer care and experience, so we thought you would like to hear about them too. We asked Simon and the team a few questions so we could better explain their services to our customers, and this is what they had to say…
1. Who and what is White Storm Rental?
White Storm Ski Rental was born in the Alps in 1995 when Simon Hooper first visited Courchevel. They are now a team of super keen winter enthusiasts who eat, work and sleep skiing and provide a ski rental service that aims to complement your overall skiing experience.
2. Where does White Storm Ski Rental operate?
We have four ski rental shops: Courchevel 1850, Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1300 and La Tania. We also provide a mobile delivery service in all of these locations as well as in Courchevel 1550, Val d’Isere and Tignes.
3. Why use White Storm Ski Rental?
It is simple: we offer great service in a language you understand. Our staff are trained both technically but also in customer service. Of course we also offer great ski rental equipment at competitive prices.
4. How do you deal with large family groups?
To us, family groups are really important – we know that we need to keep the next generation of skiers happy. We aim to fit kids with equipment in an efficient manner thus avoiding long queues and making the overall experience a happy and cheerful affair. Of course the most important part is to make sure everyone leaves the shop happy with (comfortable and) correctly sized boots and safely fitted skis.
5. Top Tips for great fitting boots?
If you are renting boots it is important to listen to the advice of the boot fitter. The boot should be snug so do not be tempted to go up a size as boot problems are often created by boots that are too big. Also remember to take decent smooth ski socks – never wear two pairs of socks as this is the quickest journey to blisters.
6. How does your mobile delivery service work?
In a nutshell, your equipment is delivered to your accommodation and adjusted by a technician. This saves clients the time and hassle of visiting a shop at the start of the holiday and equally means that we pick up the equipment from your accommodation at the end of the week.
7. Should people wear helmets?
It is important that people wear helmets as it reduces the risk of head injury significantly. We rent and sell helmets at competitive prices.
8. What is the strangest thing left in a ski boot?
We often get people leaving their custom foot beds in our boots but the strangest thing left was an expensive Rolex Watch. It was returned to its owner in Dubai.
9. What is White Storm’s favourite ski this season?
We love the Faction 2.0 Candide: the ultimate ALL MOUNTAIN FREESTYLE SKI. This is super versatile: butter it, bend it, slash it, carve it – you will love it. It charges through the crud and floats though the powder.
10 . How do I book my ski rental with White Storm Ski Rental?
It is easy: just visit our website www.whitestorm.fr. If you use the promo code BLOG you will get a 35% discount. Any questions, email us at snow@whitestorm.fr
We look forward to hearing from you.
